Arfield will be unveiled at Ibrox at midday today.

He has become the first transfer of the Steven Gerrard era – with many more expected to come.

Arfield told Sky Sports upon his arrival at Glasgow Airport: “I’m here to get silverware and success.”

The 29-year-old joins from Burnley after four successful years at Turf Moor, having made 177 appearances and scoring 21 goals for the English side.

The move marks a return to Scotland for the industrious player. He began his career at Falkirk before moving to Huddersfield for a fee of around £600,000.

He changed allegiances to Canada in 2016, the country of his father.
Rangers are still hopeful of landing Hull keeper Allan McGregor but the recruitment won’t stop there as Gerrard attempts to overhaul a squad that could finish only third in the Premiership this season.
