Monaco’s attempts to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan are being held up as the Blues want to sell the striker, according to the Ligue 1 club’s owner.

The Belgium forward, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Valencia, seemed set to join Thierry Henry’s struggling side until the end of the season.

However Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said: ‘Batshuayi? We have an agreement with the player and with Valencia but not with Chelsea.

“They want a permanent transfer. Everything could go very quickly in football so we’ll see.’
